Hi, I'm Lars

"I want to help other kids with cancer have a better time in hospital"

I have set up this charity to help kids with cancer and leukaemia. In New Zealand, 200 kids get a form of cancer each year. In 2021 I became one of them. I want to help kids in hospital have a better time and not feel so sick.

I got cancer when I was 8 and have experienced the whole cancer journey myself. It was tough. On this website, I will describe my cancer journey, how my family and I dealt with it, how my friends experienced it, some things that helped me get through it, and instructions on how you can donate to my charity: The Cancer Lion.

I've called it the Cancer Lion because lions are strong and they're the king of the jungle. I want all kids like me to become the kings and queens of their cancer!

I’ve described my story with pictures on this website, and it’s quite an emotional one. I’ve been lucky enough to come out of this fully healed and recovered, but unfortunately that is not always the case.

Thank you for any donation you can make to help kids in hospital have a better time and not feel so sick during their cancer journey.

Sign up to receive our support

The money that I will raise, will be used to help kids with cancer like me. Grown-ups don't always know what kids want during their cancer battle, and I want to give kids presents that give them a short distraction from all medications, surgeries and chemo's they have to have.

If you sign up with The Cancer Lion, after each chemo cycle, you will receive gift voucher to buy something for yourself and a sticker that you can place on our Mountain chart. In addition, you will receive a letter of support after every chemo cycle.  After completing all your cycles, you've reached the top of the mountain.

This will give kids something to look forward to during the tough days. They can then buy something that they really want, for instance toys they can play with while lying in bed all day when they feel too sick to do anything. They will be a fun distraction for when they’re super nauseous, itchy, or simply are feeling just sad and miserable.
